I think this is a wonderful and optomistic story. As it rlates to Starbucks, it is absolutely the way the company was started and grew so strong. But that was in the days when the number of stores was small. Back when it wasn't a publicly held company and really creative decisions by the field could be implimented without the negative ramifications causing widespread financial loss and affect millions. Starbucks has ceased to be a "coffee house' and all the romance that goes with it. It is a fast food beverage company - as that is what the hundreds of millions of customers truly want. When you start preparing and serving in those quantities, it isn't feasable to be that nimble and ceative. Work HAS to be programmed out methodically in order to ensure you meet the demand that those wonderfully creative and nimble minds managed to create - back in the day.
