Why do Starbucks flaunt labor laws?

Why do Starbucks have so many law suits against them by former managers due to violations of the “exempt” status as defined by the NLRB?

If  Starbucks is fair to its employees and treats them with “respect & dignity”, why have the National Labor Relation Board SLAPPED them repeatedly?

It will be interesting to see when the economy shows real signs of picking up, just how many employees will “vote” with their feet and walk off into other jobs.

Starbucks has a serious internal problem with its management structure and managerial style that stockholders need to seriously question!

One Response to “Starbucks -v- Labor Laws”

Well this is just hysterical. Have you seen what the auto workers unions strength in negotiating has done the THAT industry? Hardballing the car industry to pay pensions and health insurance for a workers entire life – despite that they stopped producing anything for that company, financially crippled them beyond their means to repair it. Now that usnion had to agree to stop those pensions leaving thousands of families without a means of support or heathcare.

Do the math – reducing Howard’s salary and the salary of every other executive is still not going to leave enough cash to increase the pay of EVERY hourly worker by 30%. You would have to go after the shareholders who efefctively own this company. And even that would be enough. It would be financially impossible.

It’s a free market society. The hourly wages Starbucks pays is absolutely comparable to what is paid at any other fast food, retail or hotel job out there. The difference is the crazy amount Starbucks pays to cover insurance for so many hourly partners.

    Seriously – do the math.
